Anybody else have contacts and they just like just put one in because the other one like don't want to cooperate? Just me. I should get glasses. If I got glasses. It'd be bad like Clark Kent.
Jaden Norvell:I mean, there's nothing speaking of black superman Michael B. Jordan is going to put in a new Black Superman. Ooh, I know. That'll be good.
Dustin Steffey:Yoda like Yoda. Anyway, not to get too far off topic. We were. We're on a Star Wars kick right now Jaden. And I just watched like two or three of the nine. Yeah, yeah. And so we're, we're kind of on a kick right now. Kick. Yeah, fulfilling the force. The force is strong with this one.
Jaden Norvell:I go put up do that.
Dustin Steffey:Alright, let's get it out. So this week, I think would be a great week to talk about goal setting. This is something that you and I have been doing a lot lately and I feel it adds value to our listeners. When we look at goal setting, there are many people that work hard in today's society, many, many people, but they don't seem to get anywhere they want to be in life. Why do you think that is that? That's the million dollar question. Right? What are your thoughts on it?
Jaden and Dustin:Consistency and determination to get it actually done? For example, motivational speakers, we all watch motivational videos we get inspired for like a day and Tony Robbins. I love Tony Robbins long term. Yeah. On Tony Robbins. No, I love Tony Robbins, Brendon Bouchard with David Goggins. David Goggins is awesome. So you think it's lack of motivation? And you think it's lack of perseverance, consistency, consistency, and determination, determination over time? Okay. Like I said, you this is a motivational speaker, and you get motivated for a day or two, and then you forget about it. I think it's lack of tools in the toolbox. I think it's lack of education on what to do. And that's why we are who we are. Yeah, I can see that some of you like, I don't know what to do is to learn. I mean, I'm not saying you're wrong at all, because here's the deal, right. Like, it's, it's up for debate, and it depends from person to person. Right. So like, I think you have some merit in what you said, I think I have some merit. I think if we ask someone else they might have a different answer. My grandfather was named merit. Oh, yeah, my dad's name. So they both have merit, merit in this conversation, Merit merit merits
Jaden Norvell:demerit. I got a lot of those.
Dustin Steffey:Yes, he does. I don't know. He's the black sheep of us right now.
Jaden Norvell:Wow.
Jaden and Dustin:We are so off topic. It's okay. We're determined. So determined. So, so structured structure. So So let's continue. Alright. So with goal setting their steps. Weird, right? Like you and I have our steps on how we mind map and brainstorm for even the podcasts. So, step one would be setting the lifetime goals. So if we put this into perspective of us, we set a long term goal. Yeah. What was that? To be honest, probably number one was self development podcast in the world, and also to help others use us as a kind of a platform to grow and influence people. So that's where I'm at with it. Right? I want to be not only the number one self development and entrepreneur podcast in general, I want to be the podcast that people speak of as the one that propels others into this arena, or whatever arena they want to go in. And they're successful at it, because they're taught casters to be like, he should not be mean, like scared to speak the name chop fire, because we're gonna we're gonna bring some Harry Potter in that song. If they speak the name, they automatically lose viewers.
Dustin Steffey:Let's say I have a respect for everyone that does podcasts. And because it's not easy. For those of you that haven't tried this, I challenge you to try it at least once because it is extremely different. It's fun. Oh, it's fun. You're fun.
Jaden Norvell:But yeah, speaking of life goals, so I was I put on a whiteboard when I was 15. I want to be millionaire by 30.
Jaden and Dustin:I look at that every day for four years. So that's my goal. My life goals. He's 22 right now for all those Single Ladies, not just a millionaire, a multi because people will all want to be millionaire, but a million dollars really? Like, you gotta shoot big. And when I think it turned out better than that. So yeah, I mean, it's a goal. But to put it in layman's terms, you know.
Dustin Steffey:I'm just thinking of this man's whiteboard. And I look at my whiteboard every day. And it's, please make it through today. Make it through the war today. So, when we look at, you know, our first step, which is setting lifetime goals, you already had stated what your goal was, when I look at my goals, my lifetime goal is to leave a footprint on this earth, that is powerful enough to pass on to my daughter to my daughter's kids to anyone that knows who I am something so positive and so grand Grande, that it makes it into the history books for success, I can see that. You know, the thing about setting big goals, in my opinion, is you have to dream big, because as an athlete, for example, and you're you're a pro at this with me, you go to bed the night before a game, and they tell you to visualize your success, they tell you to visualize the plays, and executing them 100%. And so for me when I go to bed at night, I visualize making money, ensuring that Peyton is okay ensuring that the people that are in my life are okay. Moving forward. Yeah, that's important. So I think Dream Big visualize bigger. Yeah, kind of manifest. Yeah. So if we if we if we break this down a little bit more. So in setting lifetime goals, some things to focus on right in setting these goals are career. Now I'm not a fan of like career and working for the man. So my career goals a little bit different, right? I'm chasing my own dreams as you are too. But for whomever you are out there, if your dream is to work in a career of some sort that you thoroughly enjoy. So are nurses out there big shout outs, doctors stuff like that, like, then the first step is what level do you want to reach within your career and what do you want to do to achieve it? Next would be financial. Obviously, we all want to make money, everyone. So with the financial How much do you want to earn by what stage? How is this related to your career goals? So you had actually brought this up pretty well Jaden. You said you wrote on your whiteboard that you want to make a million by the age of 30. So you got eight years, right? Ish. It's
Jaden and Dustin:Yeah, that's doable. Yeah, very doable. Probably extremely doable in the next year or two, as I said, may get in, like a stop at a million. You better not important that you guys don't limit yourself in your dreams because, yeah, dream big. Absolutely. If you dream, don't be realistic things people tell you be realistic. Don't be realistic. dream. Your dream is your dream and don't let anybody put it out. That's what I'm trying to get at. But right now you Oh, it's not realistic. You can't do this and that and say I can't. Yeah, you know? Yeah, absolutely. What about education? This one is up for some controversy, right. But it? Like, let's let's explain a little bit controversial topic, whatever education, right? Is there any knowledge you want to acquire in particular? What information skills will you need to have in order to achieve other goals? So for me, was it necessary to get a doctorate degree? Probably not. Was it necessary for me to go down the pathway of getting education to better myself and to be able to talk and help others? Probably, if I would have just graduated high school only, and then tried to do this and build my credibility in this way? I probably would have attained it, but not as quickly as I have now. Hmm. So I mean, there's always a way to go. Like I'm not downplaying people that don't go to college or don't go into education. Some of the smartest people I know. Don't have a lick of college.
Jaden Norvell:Yeah, I mean, most of the, the top 1% of them, they go to college. Exactly. But then again, it's like apples to oranges with those guys. Absolutely. You know, but that idea, they had a vision, and they knew enough about that specific vision to get it done. So if you want to be a nurse, yeah, you got to go to college. Sorry. What you do is you want to go work in Guatemala, then you probably don't have to, but you have to go to college. If you want to be a rapper.
Jaden and Dustin:You don't really have to go to college. You can just, you know, do your thing. But it might help you to take some you know, literacy courses and some get better at writing get better at wordplay and learn about that stuff at the same time. So why didn't you become a rapper at the age of 16? Fitzy Oh, whoa, well, I hit 100 I hit 100k at 15 sort of one. Look at look at him now. actually huge. I just remake Kanye a huge shout out to Jaden for making a humongously. Nice and killer introduction for choppin Wolfire. That's all him. Thank you guys. Hope you guys like us don't do rock and roll. I want to scream at y'all a little bit. Scream out. But we probably don't want to hear that. Now. Now.
Dustin Steffey:Family. Here's here's an important goal in my life. And even in yours, buddy family. Do you want to be a parent? For me? I am you? I don't know. Right? And with that being said, if so how are you going to be a good parent? How do you want to be seen by a partner or by members of your extended family? So image which for you, it's been about image your whole life.
Jaden Norvell:I want to be a parent, I just gotta have enough money to do that. And meet the right. The right ideal image is important. I mean, my being around my dad had to, you know, be perfect most of the time. So image is a big play. You got the social media really not a crazy lot of people post crazy stuff. I like tick tock I mean, I'm coming to tick tock right now. So I like all the videos people posted on my desk. Cool, but like, you know, it's cool for them. But sometimes you can't, I couldn't always post what I wanted to, you know, even on here, we can't we can't say everything we want to. So you have to be very conscientious of your image because people take notice even when you think they're not watching people or watch
Dustin Steffey:how artistic abilities right, so this is something that Payton's big on, do you want to achieve any artistic goals for me? I guess my artistic ability is creativity within the podcast, right? As far as creating the best content I can for everyone. So for me, my artistic goal is to create the very best content that I can that adds value to our listeners. And then I leave everything else to someone in marketing. Kind of go for it and make sure we're good. What about you?
Jaden Norvell:Um, creative content, guys, like do I create videos or create this create Amazon I basically bring things into the world that weren't there before. I made them. And I think that's really cool. I think the smartest people are the most creative people in the world that
Jaden and Dustin:bring something to the world that wasn't there before them. That's the major difference for me is I could work at, you know, at&t Cell phones, but at&t is gonna be there after I leave there. So really what have I impacted? Besides that you can impact you know, customers on a personal level and change people's lives no doubt but at the same time, what am I leaving behind? I want to leave something that is JD Norville, that this that wasn't there before. I mean, if you worked at at&t, even though I hate the service, I might buy a phone from you just because I like you. Well, next, I worked at Sprint, when I actually let someone live in Colorado over desperate nevermind that couldn't buy a phone from me terribly sold any phones,
Jaden Norvell:playing on my phone all the time, and then got yelled at for being on my phone in the phone store. Whoo
Dustin Steffey:Wow. This one is my favorite one when setting goals, attitude goals, okay. attitudes. My favorite one. It's any part of your mindset when you're Is there any part of your mindset holding you back? Right? Is there any part of the way that you behave that upsets you? If so, set a goal to improve that behavior. So for me being vulnerable? One thing that I hate about myself, and one big opportunity I have is, I trust people too much. Right? And I know it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is at the same time. Yeah. Because people mistake that trust and that arm niceness for weakness, and it's not.
Jaden and Dustin:I agree, I think I fall into that category as well sometimes. But I really don't like people that just refuse to change, or set any goals of their behavior. Just keep in blaming all on us keep, you know, keep doing it hard headed. Miss is. I hate it. I really don't like it at that point. Those are narcissistic tendencies. Yeah. And in my mind, right, like people that think that they're perfect. people that think that there's nothing that they need to change. Those people actually have it worse. Yeah. And it's, it's sad to see like, I'm going to continue to change until I die because that's what our environment calls for,
Dustin Steffey:in my opinion, visit physical goals. Are there any athletic goals? So for me, this was huge, high school college. What steps are you going to take to achieve these so like in high school in college, my physical goals were to try to lift as much as possible, try to have as much muscle as possible, trying to be as strong and fast as possible. Those were my goals when it came to fiscal goals. Now, in my age of almost 34, my goals are, hey, I need to look as good as I can with my busy lifestyle, and try my hardest to stay healthy. Yep.
Jaden Norvell:I struggled with that, too. Now I got I tried to stay safe. It's hard. That's the one I struggle with the most honestly. So just staying up in that gym. Every day be consistent.
Dustin Steffey:How, some pleasure goals. So how do you want to enjoy yourself, you should ensure that some of your life is for you. This probably in my opinion, for everyone is the hardest goal. Because we work. We live we breathe in an environment that is 24/7. And with technology, we can literally work 24/7 And so I find it hard to make time for myself. There's a lot of people that say, Hey, you got to do you and make time for yourself. It is impossible.
Jaden Norvell:For me it is anyway, I've actually been on the opposite spectrum of that I've taken too much time for myself, not gotten enough work done. So you got to find a happy medium in between there. And for first time in my life like 10 years ago, you guys really J take some time for yourself. I was like, Holy crap. Like I guess I'm at that point. And people think I'm working to artists the first time in my life where I've been working to remind you I've worked hard at stuff but I've been working nine to five jobs, right? You know, sit on my phone all day. And hi, how you doing? How can I help you hit a button on the phone real quick.
Dustin Steffey:This is one of my favorite goal parameters public service. So what can I give back to my community to my family, and to the people that gave me where I'm at today. I like this one the best because I think you and I do a very good job of giving back to what's important. So for you Jaden for endzone Neven for chopping the fire because we care about this to the CFF Foundation. That's a huge one. Because it impacts you at a personal level, it impacts your mom. And so it's important to me, it's important to you. Other things that we like to pride ourselves in is our guests that we have been able to shut out their charities to so we can get back to those. I think as we get bigger philanthropy events, so you're going to see us more out there doing some things to build value in our community. That's kind of where I'm at with my public service goal. I. So you roll all those up. So that that's the lifetime section of goal setting, right. So now let's get into setting smaller goals, right? Because to write this out on paper and see all these goals, it's like looking down a tunnel with no light at the end of the tunnel. And sometimes that's overwhelming. And I think that's where some people get held up. That's where some people essentially, fail. Because the goals are amazing. But how do you get there? And so what you and I've done Jaden is we've set small goals for ourselves, we have a 12345 year plan. And it's broken out year after year just for a podcast. And in that we use the method of SMART goals. So smart being s for specific Amma for measurable a for attainable are for relevant, and T for time bound. So putting it into our category, right, our goal with choppin woodfire specifically, is to have the best self development and entrepreneur podcast platform for others to learn, develop and be able to do and duplicate what we do specifically for the measurable part of that SMART goal. We measured that as starting now all the way through until we don't have the podcast which we're going to have it forever. So it's always going to be constantly going and we'll just change over time. For the attainable part. It's already there with the attainable part endzone came to life. Being being using chopping the fire as a platform, and endzone is as successful as I've seen it ever. I mean, it's about to blow up. Yeah, God, oh, it's gonna happen. And how about relevancy so relevant? Every week, you and I try our hardest to provide relevant topics that help others whether it be for endzone, having powerful interviews with specific people that you can't talk to every day or we're chopping having not only those interviews, but having us talk each week. And then time bound. So tracking like time so like for us it's we need to have an episode weekly for consistency.
Jaden Norvell:Yeah.
Dustin Steffey:And then my favorite part about goal setting would be the end part the end game, which is celebrating the success. This is the part that I have fun with like right now for you. And I Jaden, like what celebrations have we done so far? We've we've actually had quite a bit what, what are some of our celebrations? Let's share with the audience. So one of the biggest celebrations that Jaden I have is when we after a hard day's work when we actually like putting a bunch of work. One of the biggest celebrations that Jason I have to recent day was after this one day, him and I were getting knocked in the teeth, right? We were trying to go after investments, we were trying to do a bunch of different things. We finally got one when and this man calls me, and he's like, I'm dialed in. I'm ready. He's like screaming and yelling on the phone. I'm like, What's dialed in? I got the audio perfect for this interview. I'm like, Alright, man, it's the small wins, we got to celebrate let's do this. So I mean, it's it's stuff like that, that not only makes me laugh, but it's stuff like that that like helps keep us going. It's those small little wins that snowball into bigger wins. And honestly, we've been fortunate enough to have some pretty decent wins for a lot of races. This way more wins and losses, as we've talked about two losses. And I can't say we didn't learn anything from those losses either way. So they're kind of wins in the way that we learned some stuff like I mean, the major losses I could think of were
Jaden Norvell:the one time we tried to get the one investor. That was bad. We're not
Dustin Steffey:we came in with a plan and we came out like we got shot up it was
Jaden and Dustin:We walked out like whimpering dog. It was bad, like whipped puppies with puppies, man. But I learned something from that. Yeah, there's lessons to be learned in your loss. What's our second loss? Now? I'm curious because I only made that one is a loss. So that one loss is what really? Yeah, everything else has been pretty, pretty good for us. Yeah, it's been going pretty well. Yeah, we've been moving upwards. Definitely. We're gonna first shout out to you guys. Thank you guys for blowing what episode was episode seven, right? Yeah. 300 v over 300 over 300 downloads. It's crazy. Man. We started out Well, we started like 15 Should I like 1520 1520? I know. That's crazy. I'll keep download episodes. I don't even know how you word your download this to like, who really clicks like download? Just click listener? Is it the same thing? Yeah, it counts as a in in the world of podcasting. Listening counts as a download. And I was like, who really sits there's like, I'm gonna download this. Like, I mean, let's say that we we put this together and we don't even download it. We just hit listen. download anything you download and resolve you listen to it. No. You know what song I've been listening to though. That Nirvana some things in the life in the Batman movie. Some things and I'm excited for our next episode, we're gonna hit our milestone of 10th episode. Wow, it's gonna be a fun one. Absolutely. I think we're gonna free talk that one, we're gonna reflect on style boy, yeah, we're gonna reflect on the last nine episodes and the 10th one, this is gonna be Eminem and amo. I definitely am not going to be. We're going to reflect we're going to kind of talk about what we're going to be looking forward to. We have a lot of fun things that are coming. I want a shout out in zone as well. I want to shout out some big things happening over there. There's going to be some big names if you guys haven't already in zone just hit a milestone today. They just released their patreon account for for some in depth, crazy, amazing interviews with some amazing people. One in particular that I think everyone would be excited for would be Teddy Atlas man. Tyson's personal trainer, Michael Moore's personal trainer. Big time interview, biggest one of my career. That's what I was dreaming about getting the audio right for, cuz we had a problem with our mic, and it was poppin. So I bought like this $100 software. I was like this binder work and it worked perfect analysis. It was like, you know, when you figure something out by yourself? Yeah. That's like the best feeling ever. I think it's the best feeling for Jaden, because I'm his first phone call throughout my workday. And there are some days where I'm like, Please don't call me. Please don't call me. Please don't call me.
Jaden Norvell:I'll call him and I'll be like, Hey, how do you add a page to your website? It'd be like five minutes and me just be like, well tell me he's like, I'm at work. I'm like, tell me. Yeah, we're gonna be looking for and I'm like, Oh, it's right here. Create a page. Okay, bye.
Jaden and Dustin:That was a horrible story. I don't know, I tell the best story. self sufficiency is key folks self sufficiency.
Dustin Steffey:I'm excited. So the 10th episode is going to be a little different from the episodes that we have, because we're going to reflect back on the prior episodes, where we talk about wins, we're going to solicit feedback from our listeners on where they want to see the direction head for the next 10 we want to we want to move forward, we want to make sure that we're really listening to what people want and move forward accordingly. I think we're going to have some big things out of chopping with fire, we are going to start our podcast classes. And so there's more to come on that. Again, big big shout out for endzone and their Patreon if you guys haven't already, please I encourage you all to listen in zone I encourage you to listen to the free content, get a feel for how it is and if you liked it and want to know more about some of these interviews.
Jaden Norvell:Seriously, check out the Patreon at www.nzonepodcast.com that's got everything there Apple podcast link patreon link everything you need to get started we got everything is free for the most part but there are a couple episodes like Teddy Atlas one we talked to you know why is hechos we've talked to a bunch of these guys army Greenbrae veteran so we talked to a bunch of different people that is going to be worth worth your money and it's gonna be good Listen, you guys gonna learn a bunch some of the key things that you guys will take out of that membership to is there there's a lot of topics on there even with wasn't wasn't their Personal Workout actually on one. Yeah. So we got a
Jaden and Dustin:Brent Venables son's head coach for Oklahoma his son Jake played for Clemson 2018 one notch championship. He trains UFC fighters. So we talked to him about how they train. And then we talked to a professional bodybuilder, my good friend, Joshua Smith, he went muscle for muscle up from pretty much your feet, all the way up the body of what workouts you could do for each individual muscle. So really in depth stuff about physical training that was on our strength conditioning, saying, we're really in depth stuff and just cool things that I think normal people don't know about sports and then about, you know, Personal Training and Fitness. I'm really excited for this journey I'm really excited to be a part of in Zone One. And two, I'm very excited to just be in this journey with our listeners chop nation, I love shop nation, I'm excited to be here. I love the topics I want to I'm excited for this 10th episode, because I kind of get to open up and get off the script a little bit. Thank you guys, it's probably gonna be one of my more popular episodes. So I'm excited to make you guys laugh and see us outside of the script. Because I feel like sometimes we get on the script and we get a little bit. You know, we try it, we kind of try to get through it because we like talking about we'd like to talk about me and Dustin at heart. We're not actors at all, but we're very, we're good at improv, we're very funny and very off the RIP. And you should see when we before we edit, we have like 800 different edits, you guys would die laughing and we just can't show you guys everything yet. Because you guys get to help us get bigger when we get bigger. And we can be like, you know, hey, I can say what I want. And then you know, we'll be off the cuff a little bit. And even then we have to we have to present ourselves in a way if, if if we're going to be presenting to like schools and presenting to these big corporate events and stuff, we still have to present ourselves in a way however, we now have fun with it. And our 10th Episode is definitely going to be fun. You're going to see our personalities come out a little bit, you're going to see some roasts, probably because Jaden is really good at roasting and I have to fire back, you're gonna see, you're gonna see a lot of fun things and I'm excited for that. So be forewarned episode 10 is going to be epic, epic sauce. With that being said, I kinda am excited with where we're at with goal setting. I think we've added some value there we touch on it at a later date, I would assume Yeah, absolutely. We're gonna we're gonna full circle I think in the first part of the 10th episode everything we've kind of encompassed so far. We will have a YouTube channel that is visually pleasing up by the end of next week. Fabulous. So we're gonna take down those recording videos of just watching us like in our element and we're gonna have something some pop Yeah, with more value. Absolutely one of the feedback what actually many people's feedback to us that I've been reading lately is they want to see some visual content we got you guys want to see the face behind the woods. So some excitement calm in big time. The next episode some big things come in with visual, visual videos and YouTube. We're going to start with our 10th episode as a recap of everything and then we'll release a video once a week, something like that. Yes, like a two to five minute video PI's to put the notifications on hit that little bell in the YouTube and you'll be dialed in mirror some more information to come we love you chop nation clever chat nation.
